The Five Fall Favorites blog party has begun! I did a post on this just a couple weeks ago, but just in case, this week, me and several other girls are sharing our top five favorite books in a certain genre each day on our own blogs, all in a fun celebration of fall (and the excellent reading weather it brings! I mean, all seasons are good for reading, but there's just something about fall and a good book that go together.). Check out the host post (where you can find links to the other participating blogs as well as a giveaway!) by hitting the graphic above! But, on to today's genre, five books that make me me! This was a little hard to decide as I feel like there is plenty more than five books that make me who I am. But here are five that I picked from the list! Josefina's Story CollectionJosefina was my favorite American Girl when I was younger. My parents got me this collection of her books when I was eight, and I loved them. Really, though, my love for American Girl books hadn't started with Josefina, but with a little collection of books of several different American Girls that a lady in our church gave me and my sister when I was about six. They're some of the first books that I remember binge-reading, and I believe play one of the hugest roles in my love of historical fiction. Josefina's Story Collection by Valerie Tripp | Goodreads The Land of CottonThis is the first book of the Battle for Heritage Series, a series following a southern family throughout the duration of the War Between the States. What's neat about this book is that, while most of the time we only hear mostly about the north, this book shows what the South fought for and follows Confederate soldiers. I can highly recommend this series! This is another book that my parents got me when I was younger, the Christmas that I was nine. I think one of the reasons it made such an impression on me was knowing the author. It showed me that normal people can be authors and made my dream seem so much more real and attainable. <3 It also helps the reader to gain a new perspective on this critical time in our nation's history and realize that it's important to really know the facts before necessarily just believing what most everybody says. Though it absolutely doesn't at all approve of the slavery that some associate with the Confederacy, it shows the other things that the South fought for that don't seem to get talked about as much. ;) The Land of Cotton by Ryana Lynn Miller | Goodreads The Mitford SeriesThe Mitford Years series, which this is the first book of, are so delightful! They're not the kind of books that make your heart beat faster or that have you on the edge of your seat, and they're not even books that always have a clear plot, but still they are so delightful! They will make you laugh so hard, but then they'll also have you tearing up a few pages over. The reason this book made this list is because of the way it changed how I viewed people. It made me realize the humor in the people and situations around me, and it made me realize that the things that may annoy you about people can be things that you can laugh about and love about them. It's all in how you look at it. There was some taking the Lord's name in vain in these books, but besides that, I wholeheartedly recommend them! At Home in Mitford (Mitford Years, #1) by Jan Karon | Goodreads Kisses from KatieThis is a book that a classmate recommended to me and let me borrow when I was in seventh or eighth grade. I am so glad that I read this one! It tells the story of a young lady who gave her life to the Lord and allowed Him to use her in other people's lives in ways that most people would think were crazy for a girl of her age. She shares what God taught her through everything in a way that feels so personal and encouraging. This book taught me that you don't have to be experienced or of a certain age to be used by God and that nothing is impossible with Him, no matter what others may think. It also showed me the value of people and helped me to look at each person I knew as a person made by God who He loved and wanted to be their Savior. It's not always about reaching the thousands or solving huge national problems. It's about offering that lonely little boy your time, forming a relationship with the people that you could just walk by, etc., all so that you can ultimately point them to Jesus. This is such an encouraging and even inspiring read! (As is her other book, Daring to Hope!) Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis | Goodreads Little WomenThis book almost feels like it reflects my life, what with having three sisters. It's beautiful reading about such a close-knit family and each of the girls' triumphs and struggles as they grow up. It was also one of those books where you almost felt like you were learning alongside the characters, and it helped me to view my life as a journey that I'm continuously learning and trying to better and learning again on. Reading this book a few years ago also showed me that I can enjoy classics and that I don't have to be afraid of the thick spine or long sentences. :D Little Women by Louisa May Alcott | Goodreads And that wraps it up! Don't forget to check out Kate's blog for the links to the other posts and a fun giveaway if you haven't already! And let's not forget today's ebook deal! Note: I haven't read this book, so just a friendly note to us younger ones to use your own discretion and perhaps, if in doubt, a parent's help with picking books that would be good for you personally to read from these daily deals, as well as any other books that are shared over the course of the week! ;) What books do you think have made you you? Have you read any of the ones I mentioned?

Ah, Little Women was one we listened to my mom read to us growing up, and then got on audio and still listen to it. Such a lovely story!

Oh, neat! I don't hear of many others who mention enjoying the Josephina books as much. It's mostly Samantha and Felicity it seems, so it's neat to hear of someone else who enjoyed them! :D

Ooh, I've read 4 of the 5 books! (Well, only the first of the Mitford Series ... but all of the Josefina books, so it evens out?)

Oo, I absolutely loved the first Mitford book. Someday when I *accidentally* break my leg and have a ton of time, I'll have to finish the series. ;)

Oh my, that would be a funny story to tell later! Though I rarely feel like reading when I'm in pain... Maybe you should just start chipping at them a little at a time around everyday life. But it's an idea. :P

Oh, I love Little Women :) I’ve read Ryana Lynn’s book, and I THINK all the Josefina books?? Several, anyways… I’ve read a couple of the American Girl books—I think the whole series of Felicity and several of the other series… but I’m most familiar with Kristen; that’s my favourite one. :D I totally need to read Kisses from Katie & the Mitford books!

I know it seems alot of girls have read the Felicity ones if any of them. But Kirsten isn't one I've heard of being a favorite as much. And I'm not sure which one you should read more, Kisses from Katie or the Mitford books. Both are so good! :D

Hi Sophia Ellen! I'm Lily. I really liked your intro post. Oh my goodness, my family and I read Kisses From Katie a few years ago, and it was so amazing! She's like a modern day Amy Carmichael!

Hey, Lily! Aw, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Kisses from Katie would make a good book to read together as a family. I hadn't thought about that before! That's neat that y'all did that together. <3
